The new chicken tractor is almost done!
The frame is pvc, which makes it lightweight, and painted for UV resistance. It’s enclosed with a few types of netting, chicken wire, and fencing wire found around the farm (including some chicken wire that a neighbor of a friend put out on the street as trash!)
Feed can be poured through a funnel from the outside into the feed bin, which has a raised cover to prevent roosting on the feed trough. This picture is a little hard to see.
The waterer is automatic and hooked to a hose.
The roosts are bamboo poles (grown on the farm). I need to do something to give the roosts more traction — either a traction tape or painting them with sand mixed in the paint.

I found that when I used the standard “chicken wire” dogs just ripped right through it and got all my chickens. Now I made a predator-proof chicken tractor:

Thanks for the comment. I was trying to avoid using wood to make the whole thing lighter and moveable by hand, but after this perhaps a change in strategy is necessary.
