A box of 55 chicks arrived at the post office yesterday for me.

Here they are, settling into their new home on the farm.

For the first few weeks they will be in a “brooder” setup, where they have protection from drafts, cats, and the like, and extra heat and light from lamps.

When they are a little bigger they will have a whole barn stall and outdoor area to themselves, and then when their chick down has been replaced by feathers and they are not as susceptible to disease they will be moved outside.
